Child therapy helps young individuals understand and manage challenges that affect their mental health. Some of these challenges may include mental illness, behavioral issues, traumatic events, and bullying. Oftentimes, therapy may focus on increasing a child’s sense of hope and increasing their self-confidence and self-esteem.
Therapists may address issues such as: sexual or emotional abuse, death, divorce or separation, or academic and behavioral problems. Play therapy is often used to help teach children how to better cope with these problem areas.
